Mugwort
A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family found in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Ogasawara in Japan. The essential oil that gives mugwort its scent has various medicinal properties and has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient times. The leaves have a hemostatic effect as they are, and when brewed and drunk, they are said to have medicinal properties such as stomach health, ameliorating diarrhea and improving anemia. The mugwort leaves used are collected from the Tama Hills area.
